The Pirates today named Tyrone Brooks as director of Baseball operations, Mike Basso as a major league scout and Toshi Nagahara as assistant athletic trainer. Also, Kevan Graves was promoted to assistant director of Baseball operations.

Brooks, 36, spent three seasons as a professional scout for the Cleveland Indians and also worked 11 years for the Atlanta Braves.

Basso, 45, spent seven years with the Toronto Blue Jays, including 2009 as manager at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Nagahara, who spent the past two years with Cleveland, also will serve as interpreter for Pirates second baseman Akinori Iwamura.
