The Washington Nationals on Saturday agreed to terms on a one-year contract with righthander Daniel Cabrera.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cabrera became a free agent on December 13 when he was non-tendered by Baltimore. Cabrera, 27, went 48-59 with a 5.05 ERA in 147 career games over five seasons with the Orioles.
The enigmatic Cabrera has a live fastball and curveball but never has been able to harness his talent.
Cabrera went 8-10 with a 5.25 ERA in 30 starts with Baltimore last season. He finished first in the American League in wild pitches (15) and hit batters (18), and second in walks (90).
