Manchester United has two full-time scouts scouring Brazil for emerging football talent.
“It is a country you should pay attention to,” manager Alex Ferguson said Friday. “It’s a country that produces fantastic footballers. Brazilians can often play in big games all the time and they have an energy and enthusiasm to play football.”

Manchester United already has Brazil midfielder Anderson, who was joined this season in the first team squad by compatriots Rodrigo Possebon and twins Rafael and Fabio Da Silva.

A United scout was spotted watching Gremio’s 18-year-old midfielder Douglas Costa, but Ferguson played down any move by the English and European champion.

“People see our scouts at games and jump to conclusions,” he said. “They think, ‘Manchester United are here. They must be watching such and such a player.’ Just because we watch them doesn’t mean we’re going to sign them.”
