Arizona Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin was ejected from Friday game. Against the Los Angeles Dodgers by first base umpire Wally Bell in the fifth inning for arguing.

Melvin was upset that Conor Jackson was called out due to fan interference to end the fifth.

Jackson hit a foul pop down the first base line. As Dodgers first baseman James Loney approached the wall and went into a slide, a fan reached over and made the catch.

Tigers 3B Cabrera leaves game with pectoral injury.

Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Fridays game against the Kansas City Royals in the fifth inning with a mild left pectoral strain.

Cabrera, who was 0-for-3, is listed as day-to-day and did not rule out playing on Saturday. The Tigers won Fridays game, 6-3.

The 25-year-old is hitting .287 with 28 home runs and 100 RBI.

Rangers recall RHP Mendoza.

The Texas Rangers recalled righthander Luis Mendoza from Class AAA Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League prior to Fridays game with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

In 14 appearances this season – including 11 starts – Mendoza is 3-6 with a 8.13 ERA. He was optioned to Oklahoma on August 15 when righthander Kevin Millwood was activated from the disabled list.

To make room on the roster for Mendoza, the club optioned lefthander Bill White to Class A Bakersfield.
